This (Covey) quote has guided me more than once in my career, like deciding to work part time for several years when my boys were little. Like caring more about my then ill father and dying mother than chasing career advancement. Choosing, instead, work I love where I could leverage my strengths to add great value at Disney.
Being more present for my family. Including my husband, now teen boys, and elderly (and thriving) father. While also pursuing a personal passion, I am being called to. This is a commencement for me. While technically eligible to be “retiring” from Disney, I won’t say that I am, yet. Mainly because that has all kinds of connotations, myths and perceptions that don’t represent my aspirations.
I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities I have had at Disney. As a Cast Member and leader, I have had the privilege to make lasting memories for guests and fellow employees, and positively contribute to countless businesses and projects. While also making a meaningful and comfortable living.
The stories I could tell would fill a book and maybe someday I will write one. But for now, I’ll be writing a few blog posts as I work my final months, chronicling reflections on impactful career moments & milestones. WHAT they taught me and how they translate into lessons for the future. WHY this time is so meaningful for me and HOW I will be journeying through this life-stage transition with
